Been a while!

Wow, so I have once again lapsed in keeping my blog current (shocker, I know!).  So much has happened since august!  So i'm going to just break it down month by month :)

August: Found out that I was selected for work to go over to the new Mott Childrens and Von Voitlander Women's hospital with the Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Clinic. It was more of a lateral move, and intsead of working with 3 clinics, i'd only be working with one :) School started without a hitch, It was a lot to take in, but I buckled down and studied really hard! Made a few new friends, which always makes class fun!

September: Dan & I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary. It was low key this year, we just went and had a nice dinner and went to the movies :D  Class is still going well, and im doing good on most of the exams/quizes. I did get really sick towards the end of the month with a very nasty virus, that made me miss a week of work.

October: TheTigers were playing very well, and went to the playoffs! Mom & Dad, Dan & I went and caught a game, it was Dan's first time! Unfortunately, they lost 11-1 at the game we went to, and went on to lose the series, better luck next season! I celebrated my 32nd birthday, ugh, how the years sneak up on us!  No halloween for us this year, I had class!

November: For being Michigan, we certainly had a mild fall, with nice temperatures!  Grandma took a turn for the worse, but once again, proved us all wrong, and snapped right back. Thanksgiving was at our house this year, we envited everyone, and I got up real early to start the turkey and then went to meijers to cash in on some freebies (with coupons of course!). Dinner was wonderful, but very exhausting! Dan was a wonderful hubby, and cleaned up the entire kitchen, since I cooked :D  Then the fun began! My friend Chrissy and I hit the stores when they opened at 12am! Got almost all of my shopping done and was home by 6am!

December: I was pretty much in lockdown study mode trying to prepare for my final, and re-learning all of the early stuff we had gone over (the final was cumulative). Still pretty mild temps for December, and no snow.   Also, the first week of December, the clinic made its move to the new hospital. Our new space was very exciting, as people learned how to get around, and get used to everything! We had a limited clinic so we could focus on getting our areas all set up and what not.  By the middle of Dec. we were running full speed. I was still picking up overtime working in the Cancer Center infusion area. I worked on 12-17. After getting off work that Saturday, I decided to go see my Grandma, as she has been going downhill. She was aware of our presence (the whole family was there, with the exception of Dan, who was attending an out of state funeral). Sadly, on 12-18, she passed away in her sleep. It was a very emotional day, our family came together and grieved, but knew in our hearts she was in a better place.  The holiday's were especially difficult for my family. We gathered at Amie & Larry's, a few tears were shed when my dad handed out cards with a gift from Grandma inside. The funeral was Wednesday Dec. 28th. It was wonderful to see how many people loved and cared for my Grandma, and all the work she had done for the city that she loved. I got a memorial tattoo, so I will never forget that my grandma will always be behind me. My final for my A&P class was the day after she passed, somehow, I managed to pass my final, and get an 89% in the class. New Years eve, Dan and I went to a lovely little bed and breakfast on a working thoroughbred farm in Lapeer, just to get away, it was just what we needed, a little time to spend together, in a nice relaxing environment.

January:  I have been enjoying my break from school, and not having to study!  But like all good things, they come to an end. I start my first class this week of the winter semester, Principles in Health Information Management. 4 hours on a friday night, you know your jealous :D I am also taking Medical Terminology online, so that nice, I can work on it whenever I want :D Dan has been a little under the weather this week, but is starting to bounce back! I am looking forward to a scrapbooking event that I am going to tomorrow, so hopefully I can catch up on the 1.5 years worth of pictures.

Well, thats about it for now!

Fall is almost here!

So its been a very busy past few weeks, in both good and bad ways. My Grandma Sophie has not been doing very well, and the family thinks that it will be a short amount of time before she goes to heaven.  Its been a long battle, but I think she is at peace, and ready to leave.  It will be devistating for the whole family, especially me, since she has been such a large influence on my life. When the time comes, I will try to view it as not a goodbye, but i'll see you when I get to heaven.

A few weeks ago I went and tried Zumba for the first time. I really liked it, however, my knee didn't lol.  A few days later I was getting excruciating pains, and went to the doctor. They diagnosed me with Patellofemoral syndrome, or runners knee. I have had ashgood slaughters desease, and the zumba really aggravated my knee. So now I get to go to physical therapy once per week, and then do the exercises at home lol. I am hoping that it will get better soon!

School at Schoolcraft college starts for me in just a few short days,  yikes! I am very excited, but nervous at the same time, as I have never taken an anatomy & physiology class before! Thankfully I have lots of nurse friends that will be able to help me!  5 credit hours on top of working 40+ hours is really going to wipe me out!

Had an awesome time out last night with some girls from work, a last hurrah if you will, before my life gets crazy with work/school!  Dan and I will be moving next year, we are hoping to capitalize on the buyers house market, and move to Livonia, to a bigger house, in a nice neighborhood. We will sure miss the great neighbors we have here though!

Well, thats about it for now, I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Started a new blog!

Hey there everyone! So apparently my last blog just sort of went away after a long time of not updating it lol.  So much has happened in the past year, much to much to write lol. So here is the cliff notes!  Dan and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary (quickly approaching our 2 year in Sept)! Things are going pretty well. Unfortunately Dan's company went out of business in April, so he has been collecting unemployment and looking for work, he's had a few interviews, so hopefully something pans out!  My grandma Sophie has been in and out of the hospital since February, but continues to be the stuborn Pollack she is :D.  I had some medical issues of my own, but everything has been cleared that I am NORMAL, regardless of what some might say lol. I just reached my 1 year anniversary with the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.  It has been one heck of of a busy year there, learning so much, making lots of new friends with coworkers, etc!  Just this past week (August 3rd) I was informed by the powers that be, that I had been selected to move over to the new Mott Children & Women's hospital when it opens in November/December! Right now I work with both Team 1 (hematology) and Team 4 (pediatric hematology and bone marrow transplant). When November comes, I will be moving with just the Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) clinic. It felt good to be appreciated/recognized as having a strong background in what I do!  I really do love my job, and getting to know the patients. While there are tough days (dealing with patient loss, etc), it is a very rewarding position. I look foward to the new beginning I will have when the hospital opens.  Murphy is still doing great, getting a little greyer around the face, but still the best boy I could ever have!

I have also made the decision to go back to school (I know, as if working 40+ hours per week isn't enough!). I've enrolled in Schoolcraft College in Livonia to pursue a health coding specialist certificate! Its a 1 year program (if you go full-time), but I will be taking my time, and doing 1-2 classes at a time :)  I begin school in just a few short weeks with the first required class, Anatomy & Physiology. When that starts, i'll see everyone at Christmas, as when I'm not working, sleeping or in class, i'll be studying to get the best possible grade (since U of M pays for 75% of my tuition) :-)

On a more short term basis, looking forward to going up north to Crystal Lake to hang with my buddy Kevin next weekend! We love going up there, as does Murphy!

Well, thats all for now, looking forward to staying more active with this blog, promise :-)
